Black Cat Bio:

Felicia Hardy grows up as the daughter of the perfectionist cat burglar Walter Hardy.  Walter teaches his daughter to be the best at what she decides to do.  Also if she likes something she should attempt to be in the middle of it and settle for being on the sidelines.  Felicia is a bright student and attends Empire State University (Same University as Peter Parker) but is nearly raped in a bathroom before another student Ryan saves her.  However, after getting close to Ryan he betrays her by forcing himself on her when the two are alone.  Hating the idea of being victim she pours herself into learning how to fight.  She merges various fighting styles with her acrobatic gymnastic skills to become a fighter capable of hanging with super humans.  She then uses her new skills to pursue Ryan but is denied vengaence when he is killed in drunk driving accident.  Greatly angered at being denied vengance she decides to pursue a life of stealing like her father.  Felicia maintains a deep distrust and anger toward most Men due to her experience with Ryan.

After stealing enough to be considered wealthy she then pursues to break her father out of Prison. For this heist she decides to wear a costume and the Black Cat is born.  Her attempt to break her father out of Prison lands her in a face off with Spider-Man.  Something about Spider-Man's morality break through to Felicia and she begins to fall in love with him.  She begins donning the Black Cat costume more and more as the means of crossing paths with Spider-Man.  While generally being on the wrong side of the law the two develop a kinship for each other and occasionally for an uneasy truce.   Spider-Man went so far as to get amnesty papers for the Black Cat drawn up so she could be legally clean but these became useless when she did another robbery and then faked her death.

The Black Cat revealed to Spider-Man that the Kingpin and created a powerful detonator weapon.  The Owl and Doctor Octopus both had criminal designs to use the weapon on NYC but the Black Cat stole it before either could use it.   Doctor Octopus tracked down the Black Cat and his men shot her before Spider-Man was able to save her.  While in the hospital Spider-Man begins to realize how much he cares for her.  The two begin a romantic relationship when she recovers and Spider-Man reveals his secret identity as Peter Parker.  While the Black Cat adores Spider-Man she is less thrilled about Peter Parker.  She increasingly lives her life as the costumed Black Cat and doesn't understand while Peter can't do the same.  Though these arguments hurt Peter he accepted them because he enjoyed not having to lie about his double life.

Felicia became worried that her lack of super powers were becoming a liability with Spider-Man.  She feared that she would be used by another Super Villain to kill or hurt Spider-Man.  To counter this she decided to undergo a procedure that would imbue her with powers.  Unfortunetly these powers were directed and planned out by the Kingpin.  He gave Felicia a bad luck power that would work on anyone in her proximity. The bad luck jinx power began to effect Spider-Man anytime he was with her.  Eventaully, Peter sensed that Felicia was keeping too much from him and broke off the relationship.  Felicia hated that she had been the dumpee instead of the dumpor and was on the losing end with another man.

Doctor Strange began to study Spider-Man's bad luck and found that a permanent bad luck aura had been placed on him by the Black Cat.  He explained that it was not the Cat's fault and that it was inadvertent.  He removes the bad luck from Peter but in doing so alters Black Cat's powers.  Instead of having Bad Luck she now has other cat like powers such as increased Strength, Balance, Vision and retractable claws.  With the bad luck powers gone, and the truth out on what Felicia had been hiding the two begin their relationship again.

While everything seemed to be good with the Black Cat, Peter returned one day to overhear the Black Cat discussing a plan to ruin his life.  It seems she had never forgiven him for dumping her.  He followed her, and found that she was having a relationship with the Foriegner.  The Foriegner was the very villain that had been working to frame Spider-Man for murder.  With her betrayal exposed the Black Cat fled to Europe and Spider-Man rekindled his relationship with Mary Jane.

Black Cat had on and off again troubles with jealousy over Spider-Man marrying Mary Jane.  At times she attempted to break them and at times she accepted it.  She herself had relationships with Flash Thompson and the Puma.

After a Brand New Day, Felicia is able to remember the aspects of Peter's relationship but not the secret identity of Spider-Man.  Both Peter and Felicia are also broken up with their previous romantic interests of Mary Jane and Puma.    Spider-Man kiss on TV which is seen by Mary Jane.

Spider-Man and Black Cat begin a superhero romance where they always keep their masks on.  However this ends when the Black Cat steals a vial of of Spider-Man's blood and sells it Mr. Negative.  This ended their relationship.  However, when Spider-Man was caught by Doc Tramma she was contacted by Mary Jane who helped rescue him.  After this event Mary Jane and Felicia became friends much to Spider-Man's chagrin.

Black Cat and Spider-Man's feelings for each other take a drastic turn for the worst after she meets with the Superior Spider-Man.  The Superior Spider-Man is the body of Spider-Man with the mind of Doctor Otto Octavius.  While going on a date Octavius interupts a theft by the Black Cat.  When she attempts to flirt with him, he ruthlessly punches her full strength.  The punch pulverizes Felicia and she loses a tooth in the process.  Incapiciatated she is apprehended by the police and sent to Conway Penitenrary.  All of her criminal credibility evaporates at being so baddly beaten by Spider-Man.  She loses all of her possessions and criminal contacts.  The Black Cat in prison becomes determined to get revenge on Spider-Man and to become a force in the criminal world that no one can ignore.

In Prison Felicia creates a partnership with Electro and the two escape and take over the criminal empire of the Eel.  She infoms Mister Negative that she wants to join the criminal big leagues and will prove herself by destroying Spider-Man.  A battle between Electro and Blackcat with Spider-Man and Silk is had at the Fact Channel News Studio.  During this battle Black Cat is nearly able to reveal Spider-Man identity but the camera angle of Peter's face is blocked by the gloating face of Johan Jameson.  During the battle Electro loses control and accepts an offer to have his powers shut off by Parker.  The Black Cat escapes to continue her vendetta against Spider-Man.

She forms a criminal enterpise that runs out of the Slide-Away Casino

Black Cat finds that her bad luck power is stronger the more ruthless she acts.  She sets fire to a building that is holding Jan and May Jameson in an attempt to get at Regina Venderkamp a wealthy elite who was seen holding some of Black Cat's former prized items.  Spider-Man saves everyone but is warned by the Black Cat that she has plans to be more ruthless than in the past.

At different points in time Black Cat has no true super powers.  During these times she is an Olympic level athlete with a high degree of martial art and gymnastic training.

Who is Mysterio?

Mysterio is known primarily as a villain of Spider-Man though he has also made notable appearances in other stories.  He famously hired the hitman Bullseye to kill Daredevil's friend Karen Page.   It is rumored that Mysterio could appear as a villain in the Netflix show Daredevil Season 3.

According to Deadline Jake Gyllenhall has been hired to play Mysterio in the sequel to Spider-Man: Homecoming called Spider-Man: Far From Home.  Gyllenhall had once been in the running for Spider-Man in particular after Tobey Maguire had suffered a back injury during the filming of Seas Biscuit.  The first images of Gyllenhall playing Mysterio from Spider-Man: Far From Home can be seen at the bottom of this page.

First Appearance:  The Amazing Spider-Man #13 (1964)

Real Name: Quentin Beck

Quentin Beck is a special effects guru and stunt man working in Hollywood.  His dream to become a major actor in the film industry.  While having some success in the field of special effects he become depressed when he fails to become an actor.  He begins to feel stuck, and bitter working behind the scenes while craving the spotlight for himself.  He realizes however that his expertise with special effects and illusions could make him into a powerful super villain.  Best of all he would finally have the spot light on him as he always desired.  Quentin creates the villain name and suit of Mysterio.

Mysterio would go on to become a regular antagonist of the hero Spider-Man.  In their initial altercation Mysterio was attempting to rob the Midtown Museum.  When Spider-Man arrives Mysterio uses to specially crafted chemicals to disrupt the arachnid hero.  First he uses a gas that blocks Spider-Man's spider sense, then he uses a solvent that can dissolve Spider-Man's webbing.  Despite the hindrance, Spider-Man tricks Mysterio and captures him.

Sinister Six:

Mysterio joins the Super Villains group the Sinister Six.  In his first work with the group he creates robotic versions of the X-Men to battle Spider-Man.

Working both alone and with the Sinister Six Mysterio is continually defeated by Spider-Man.

Guardian Devil Story:

More on the Guardian Devil Story

One of the more brutal Mysterio stories is the Guardian Devil story.  Here the villain turns his focus to Daredevil.  Mysterio is diagnosed with a terminal brain tumor and lung cancer that were caused by chemicals and radiation from his Mysterio equipment.  He is said to have one more year to live.  With his life winding down Quentin becomes obsessed with his legacy and seeks to change the perception that he was a loser.  He sets his sights on bringing down his old foe Spider-Man.  As he is released from prison he is disapointed to learn that Spider-Man is a clone.  Feeling that defeating a cheap copy of the original would be demeaning to his legacy he searches for a new target.  His new focus quickly becomes the hero Daredevil.
In Mysterio's mind the two were kindred.  Both being unknown outside of a small circle of people despite being very talented.  In his mind both Daredevil and himself were something like victims of the masses for not being recognized for their greatness.

He acquires a vast amount of information on Daredevil from the Kingpin.   He then creates a drug that he believes will cause Daredevil to go insane.  This manipulation nearly leads Daredevil to kill a baby was was falsely accused of being the anti-christ.  Mysterio convinces Karen Page that she is suffering from HIV contracted during her stint as a porn star.  Bullseye then assassinates Karen and frames Murdock's partner for the crime.  Between the duress caused by Karen's death and the Mysterio's drug Daredevil began to lose his mind.  He felt like was being tormented by the forces of hell.
Daredevil continues to fight despite these emotional and mental assaults.  Eventually, Doctor Strange discovers the drug and magically removes it.  Analyzing the drug in his system Daredevil realizes that he has been duped by Mysterio and furiously attacks the villain.  In the battle between the two an enraged Daredevil smashes Mysterio's helmet revealing a sick Quentin Beck.  Beck expects Daredevil to kill him, which he sees as a finishing touch upon his magnum opus, or as he puts it  a "grand way to end his final show."  Daredevil compares it instead to a B-Level movie, says that Quentin copied the plots and plans of other villains.  Mysterio says he has an idea to steal from Kraven the Hunter he proceeds to pull out a gun and shoot himself in the head.

While Beck had previously faked his death numerous times this time appeared to be final.  However, other men have since found and used Beck's Mysterio mantle equipment typically to even less effect than the original.

Mysterio is a master of illusion and special effects which he uses to disorient and confuse opponents.
Also has been shown to be adept at chemistry and robotics that has allowed to create various traps and weapons.

Mysterio has skills in the following disciplines
  • Mental Manipulation
  • Illusion
  • Special effects
  • Hypnosis
  • Drugs/Gases
  • Robotics

Actor Jake Gyllenhall has joined Instagram with a post showcasing himself reading a Spider-Man vs Mysterio comic.  The comic he is reading is Amazing Spider-Man #311 The return of Mysterio from 1989.  Not really if there is an Oh Crap moment like the one Jake does in the post.  At one point in the comic a tourist named Tommy dies in the crossfire of a battle between Spider-Man and a giant made of bricks.  Though Jake's reaction may infact have to do with what he says that he just realized he is not playing the webslinger and instead the dastardly villain.  Cheer up Jake, Mysterio is pretty damn cool if you ask me.

A post shared by Jake Gyllenhaal (@jakegyllenhaal) on

Actor Jake Gyllenhall will play Mysterio in Spider-Man: Far From Home.  The first images of Gyllenhall playing the illusion master villain were spotted by fans on set in the Czech Republic.

You can see that part of the set is a fair / carnival which would certainly seem to fit Mysterio.

Who is Sherry in the Walking Dead?

Sherry is a Walking Dead character introduced as being a member of the Saviors.  In the Walking Dead TV series she is played by actress Christine Evangelista.

First Appearance: The Walking Dead #105

Sherry News:

Sherry Multi-Media:

Sherry is introduced as one of the female concubines / wives of Negan the leader of the the group known as the Saviors.  It is revealed that she is the former wife of the Savior commander DwightDwight and Sherry traded her to Negan in order to move up the ranks of the Saviors.  Dwight is caught sleeping with Sherry and is punished by having his face burned with a red hot Iron.

Sherry is seen attempting to defend another of Negan's wives, Amber after she too slept with her former husband.

Dwight refuses to play Ping Pong with Negan.  Negan responds that he is ok with that because he is going to have sex with Sherry.  Negan walks past Dwight saying a parting lewd comment about what he is going to do Sherry.  It seems this event is the straw that breaks the camels back and leads Dwight to becoming a spy for Rick in their battle against Negan.

After All Out War, Negan is defeated.  Rick appoints Dwight as head of the Saviors.  Two years later, Dwight and Rick are discussing how things are going.  Dwight informs Rick that Sherry is no longer with him.  He says that Sherry is with a nice guy with a lot more face.  He says that despite their separation they are on good terms.

During the Whisper War, Sherry helps lead the Saviors away from the other communities.  She feels they should stop getting involved in the wars of the other communities.  She leads a team of Saviors that ambush Rick and his group after they finished off a big group of walkers.  While negociating with Rick, Sherry grows increasingly erractic and agitated that Rick is not afraid of her.  She attacks Rick with a knife and when he pushes her off she slaws her head against a table and seemingly dies.

In the Walking Dead TV series she is played by actress Christine Evangelista.

In Season 6 episode called  "Always Accountable", Daryl is captured by a man named Dwight with a wife /girl friend named Sherry.  They are part of a different group that has strict and bizarre rules.  Part of the rules include trading.  The pair steal Daryl's crossbow and motorcycle.   As they leave Daryl tells them that, "They will be sorry."

During this episode the sister of Sherry is killed.  It is possible she was trying to escape being one of the "Wives" of Negan.

It is not clear if this Dwight is the same as the Dwight in the comics but there are some similarities. He has a wife named Sher which is similar to Sherry.  He also now possesses a crossbow like his comic character.

When Dwight appears later it is clear that his face was burned similar to his comic character.  It seems likely that Sherry is now one of the wives of Negan.  Dwight at some point had inappropriate contact with her which Negan brutally punished with the burning hot iron to the face ritual that he uses on Saviors who break his rules.

Who is Spider-Woman

A few different women have used the moniker of Spider-Woman.  Jessica Drew, Julia Carpenter, Mattie Franklin, Charlotte Winter, and the Skrull Queen Veranke.

This post will focus primarily on the Jessica Drew version of the character.

Spider Woman News:

Spider-Woman Multi-Media:

First appearance:
First appearance- Marvel Spotlight #32
First appearance in self titled book: Spider-Woman #1

Spider-Woman and Spider-Man connections:
Marvel initially tried to make Spider-Woman very different that Spider-Man.  She has different powers, persona, and origins.  Her stories tended to be darker, and more espionage based.   This was done on purpose to make Spider-Woman her own character separate from the male version.

Spider-Woman's original origin was retconned in the storyline called Origin.  What follows is the story based off the new continuity based version.
Jessica Drew's parents are scientists working on adding spider DNA into the human genome.   They move to the Wundagore mountain range to work on this project.  Little to their knowledge their work is being financed by Hydra.   Her mother Miriam is gets pregnant while at Wundagore.
While pregnant, Jessica's mother is blasted by a laser containing DNA traits of many different kinds of spiders. These DNA traits are passed on to Jessica and where she gets her spider super powers from.

Hydra recruits Jessica after her parents mysteriously disappear.  Later she learns her father is murdered by an assassin.  Jessica does not join Hydra willingly but is brain washed.  I believe Hydra had something to do with her father's murder but I can't find confirmation of this.  She is trained at Hydra to be a super assassin.  The infamous hand to hand specialist the Task Master is her trainer.  Under his tutelage Jessica masters numerous different fighting styles.

On a mission to kill Alecia Masters (love interest of the Thing / Ben Grimm) her brain washing falls apart.  She then helps the Thing rescue Masters from Hydra.  Working with the thing she is able to restore her memory and fully remove the Hydra mind implants.

Jessica has trouble adapting to normal life.  She has no work experience or any documented history at all.  She also seems to cause negative emotions to arise in women like fear/anger/dislike/disgust by being in their proximity.  Men her presence seem to fall head in heels in love with her for little to no reason.  Eventually, Jessica learns that she emits a pheromone that causes these negative feelings in females and attraction in males.  She eventually creates a perfume to partially suppress the pheromones.

Jessica is kidnapped by Skrull aliens.  She thought she was meeting with Hydra and was planning on becoming a double agent for SHIELD however the Skrulls abduct her and replace her with an imposter.  The Skrull Queen Veranke herself takes Spider-Woman's position.  After the Skrulls are defeated Iron Man finds a ship in orbit around Earth that contains all of the missing heroes.  Jessica is one of the cells in the ship and returns to Earth.  She resumes her role as a member of the Avengers.

Jessica Drew's powers are actually very different than Spider-Man's.
Venom Blasts - She emit bio electrical blasts from her hand
Super senses - Smell and hearing
Super Strength and Stamina
Super Speed and Agility
Super Durability
Can Fly - (Not always the case sometimes only glide)
Immune to poisons and radiation
Hands emit chemical that allows her to cling to walls
Releases a pheremone that causes men to be highly attracted to her but women be disgusted with her.

Spider-Woman is also highly trained in hand to hand combat by the Task Master.  She is well trained in espionage by both Hydra and SHIELD.
