Clark Gregg will be in Agents of SHIELD Season 6 but not as Coulson

Remember when Agents of SHIELD kept using the character Ward in a different way.  Brett Dalton would return to play good Ward, bad Ward, Hydra leader Ward, then as the evil Inhuman Hive, then as an apparent good guy of the fake digital world called the Frame Work.  Looks like the Agents are going to do something a bit similar with Coulson.

It was revealed at the end of Season 5 that Coulson was temerinally ill and that he would soon die.  It seems with Season 6 kicks off he is indeed gone.  HOWEVER, another character appears a villain who......LOOKS exactly like Coulson.

You can see this Coulson Doppelganger in the Season 6 Teaser.

Clark Gregg jokes about his new role on Agents of SHIELD.  He says he has begun to think of his character  Phil Coulson is like the cockroach of the Marvel universe and is unkillable.  He says that the plan of why this new character looks like Coulson is ground breaking and he seems really excited for the role.

Gregg Clark revealed a little more about Season 6 in an interview with Entertainment Tonight saying:

"I know that Season 6 starts out with the S.H.I.E.L.D. team on Earth, grieving, trying to take on on the duties of S.H.I.E.L.D. and dealing with these strange anomalies that have wreaked mass chaos, and they seem to get some images of people from somewhere else who are committing these things," Gregg told ET. "The other half of the team is off in space, looking for the frozen Fitz from the future... And suddenly, it becomes clear that one of these people is wearing a very familiar face."

He offered further mysterious clues by saying:

"What [producers] Jed and Mo Whedon and Jeff Bell came up with, with the other writers... I’m really excited for people to see what they came up with. It may be a little disturbing, but this is a very different person," he teased.

"There’s a big mystery here," he added. "And I think that this person is as surprised as they are, that they seem to recognize his face... I probably wasn’t supposed to say that."

Agents of SHIELD really likes to have enigmatic mystery to start each season and this looks like the big the mystery of Season 6.  Does anyone have any theories on who the doppelganger is?
